Nathan Yu is a Managing Partner of NIO Capital. Yu has rich experience in management and investment in the automotive and new energy fields.
Yu has over 25 years of working experience in the automotive industry. Before joining NIO Capital, Yu worked at Geely Holding Group for four years and was responsible for Geely‘s international business. Yu led the acquisition of Malaysian automaker Proton and U.K. luxury sports car brand Lotus, as well as U.S. flying car company Terrafugia.
Prior to Geely, Yu was the Chairman of Fiat Powertrain Technologies in Asia Pacific, a division of the Fiat Group responsible for taking care of all activities related to powertrains and transmissions. Previously, he held positions at Liaoning SG Automotive, General Dynamics and Daimler Chrysler in China and U.S.
Yu holds a master’s degree in automotive engineering from University of Windsor and a Ph.D. degree in automotive engineering. Moreover, Yu was ranked second in the State Scientific and Technological Progress Awards, along with the first prize awarded by the Chinese National Machinery Ministry for Scientific and Technological Progress, and an Excellent Operator award in Jiading District, Shanghai.
